The Heiva draws a lot of visitors to Tahiti in July over a 2-3 week period to celebrate culture in music, song, dance and athletic events.
If you cannot make it in July, try and be in Tahiti in June for the Heiva des Ecoles. This is organized by La Maison de La Culture. It takes place over a couple weeks and the traditional Tahitian dance schools of the islands perform on stage. This is like a dance recital on steroids, it is the crowning event of the year for these dancers and performers.
