After spending the day in awe of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, I didn’t think anything could top that experience—until the sun set, and I found myself under a starlit sky at the BOMA Dinner & Drum Show.
It was the perfect way to wrap up an already extraordinary day in Zimbabwe. If you’ve ever been to a Lu’au in Hawaii, imagine that same joyful energy, but now infused with African soul, rhythm, fire, and flavor. This is not just a dinner. It’s a celebration—a cultural immersion, a drumbeat to the heart, a night that grabs hold of your spirit and doesn’t let go.
What Is the BOMA Dinner & Drum Show?
Located just minutes from the heart of Victoria Falls, The BOMA Show offers an authentic taste of Zimbabwean hospitality and heritage.
When you arrive, you’re greeted with a warm “Karibu!” and wrapped in a traditional chitenge cloth. Your face may be gently painted in tribal design as drums echo in the distance. And from there… the night comes alive.
Here’s what makes the BOMA Show so special:
Interactive drumming — You’re handed your own drum and invited to play along. Whether you’re musically gifted or not, the rhythm will move you.
Traditional dances & music — Dancers perform with electric energy and radiant pride. Each performance tells a story—from ancient traditions to post-colonial resilience.
Fire dancing & storytelling — The flames rise, the night deepens, and suddenly you feel like you're in a dream.
Zimbabwean buffet — Over 40 local dishes, including venison, warthog, sadza, peanut spinach, and the infamous mopane worm challenge (Yes, I tried one. No, I won’t tell you how many!).
Warmth, joy, and laughter — It’s impossible not to smile here. Everyone is welcomed like family.
What It Costs and How to Book
The entire BOMA experience—including the full buffet dinner, entertainment, and drumming session—costs around $50 USD per person.
🎟️ You can book directly at theboma.co.zw, or if you’re booking a full Zimbabwe experience like I did, I highly recommend using Vanira Travel, who handled everything for me with absolute ease and style.
My Personal Take: A Night Etched in My Heart
I’ve been to dinner shows before. Some feel polished and a bit too rehearsed. But this—the BOMA—felt alive. Unscripted. Soulful.
I laughed, danced, learned, and ate my way into a deeper understanding of Zimbabwean culture. It wasn’t just entertainment. It was a journey—a chance to see, hear, and feel the heartbeat of a people.
There was a moment during one of the final dances when I caught myself welling up. I didn’t expect that. But travel does that to you—especially when it’s this raw and real.
I left feeling energized, connected, and so deeply grateful. If you're heading to Victoria Falls, don’t miss this night. Come hungry, come open-hearted, and get ready to leave with a little piece of Zimbabwe etched into your soul.
